Turkish-backed forces capture Afrin: What comes next for Kurds and Syria?

Syrian Kurdish forces withdrew from the area around Afrin in northwestern Syria, as Turkish forces and reactionary, fundamentalist forces fighting under the banner of the Free Syrian Army moved in to occupy it. The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) said they would transition to guerrilla warfare and continue to resist the occupation. The FSA fighters proceeded to loot Afrin and commit atrocities.
