Exclusive: Official inventory of George Jackson’s prison cell library

This is a facsimile of a memorandum addressed to San Quentin Warden L. S. Nelson, dated Sept. 3, 1971, listing books found in George Jackson’s cell following his assassination on Aug. 21, 1971.

The document is part of the San Quentin 6 trial archives and was recovered by Greg Thomas, a scholar and English professor at Syracuse University in New York (UPDATE: now at Tufts University in the Boston area of Massachusetts). This is the first time this document has been published anywhere.
