Actions against U.S. nuclear stockpile

On August 6, the Los Alamos Study Group and other progressive organizations will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings with an all-day event entitled, “It started here—let’s stop it here!” in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

The bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki were designed and assembled at government laboratories in Los Alamos. Sixty years later, the laboratory at Los Alamos is the largest nuclear weapons facility in the world. There are 2,500 nuclear weapons stored in New Mexico, more than anywhere else.

Also on August 6, there will be a protest targeting the Livermore lab in Livermore, California. The lab is one of the world’s primary sites for the creation and development of nuclear weapons.
