Ten activists from the Party for Socialism and Liberation participated in the 16th World Youth Festival, held this year in Caracas, Venezuela. The delegates expressed their solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution, participated in workshops and educational forums, and met informally to exchange ideas and establish contacts with anti-imperialist and socialist organizations throughout the world. Aside from the 700 U.S. delegates, approximately 15,000 youth and students from 144 countries participated in the week’s events.
The week began with a massive march of all the world’s delegations followed by a stirring address from Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez Frias. In the address, Chávez warned the U.S. government to not attack Venezuela. He called for resisting the Empire from within the United States. “Socialism is the only path,” he told the delegates.
