Solidarity march for human rights and economic justice

On Labor Day, a solidarity march united different progressive movements in Seattle: from immigrant workers fighting

federal government attacks on their right to employment to those who oppose the Iraq war and its local effects, like severe job losses and social program cuts.


Nearly 1,000 people gathered at Judkins Park and marched to Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park for a short rally. Chanting, “Sí se puede” and “Bush, escucha, estamos en la lucha,” the marchers, including many Latinos, marched through the city’s traditionally African American central district.


The participants received a positive reception from people in the surrounding neighborhood.
