U.S. moves to deport father of dead soldier

Three years ago, U.S. Army Private Armando Soriano—the child of Mexican immigrants—died fighting in Iraq. Now, his father, Enrique Soriano, faces deportation by the U.S. government.

Armando had pledged to help his family receive green cards. His mother has received one but his father was denied. Three of the Sorianos’ four remaining children are U.S. citizens. The fourth has applied for a green card.

The U.S. military directly targets the most exploited sectors of the working class for recruitment into the imperialist military machine. The military makes false promises—including citizenship, residency, financial and material assistance—to lure immigrant workers in.

Enticing immigrants to kill and die in a war based on profit, while moving to deport their family members, is a callous act of abuse. No families should be separated. And no more soldiers should have to die to enrich the capitalist class.
