Government, Halliburton cover up rape crime

A young Texas woman, Jamie Leigh Jones, now 22, has alleged that U.S. war profiteer Halliburton and its former subsidiary, KBR, covered up her rape by co-workers when she worked for KBR in Baghdad.

Jones filed a lawsuit alleging she was drugged, raped and later awoke in a shipping container surrounded by armed KBR guards. She said KBR then warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she would lose her job.

Over two years after the crime, the Justice Department has brought no charges. In fact, no federal agency is known to be investigating the case. KBR claims it was investigating the matter, but was told to stop by the government.

At least three more women also have sued KBR and Halliburton for rape or sexual harassment recently.

Government-corporate collusion in rape cases is despicable, but should be no surprise. The also are responsible for mass war crimes against millions of Iraqi people.
