North Korea confirms fulfillment of nuclear deal

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea reaffirmed on Jan. 4 its fulfillment of a nuclear agreement with the United States government requiring the disclosure of all its nuclear activities before Dec. 31, 2007.

Washington has rejected the declaration, following its usual tactic of accusing its targets of failing to meet commitments despite all evidence to the contrary. U.S officials similarly claimed that Iraq had failed to disarm long after Iraq had dismantled its weapons. Some still insist that Iran poses a nuclear threat even after Washington’s own National Intelligence Estimate exposed the myth.

As Pyongyang officials have pointed out, the United States has not honored its commitment to remove North Korea from its list of state sponsors of terrorism and has not delivered the energy assistance promised in their agreement.
