Cuba and Iran sign scientific cooperation agreement

Representatives of Cuba and Iran signed their first bilateral scientific and technological cooperation agreement on Feb. 15. The purpose of the agreement is to continue to strengthen both countries’ economic and social development independently of U.S. imperialism.

The exchange of scientists, experts and professors—as well as the ability to share important discoveries and challenges in specific fields—will be included in the program. Young professionals will be able to take part in seminars, workshops and training sessions focused on industry and agriculture.

The signing took place at the Sixth International Congress on Higher Education in Havana, Cuba. Over 3,000 delegates from 50 countries attended.

“I believe this agreement represents an effective measure against the scientific apartheid imposed by the world’s powers on developing countries,” said Iranian minister of science, research and technology Mehdi Zahedi.
