Cuban solidarity with imprisoned Palestinian resistance leader

A campaign of solidarity with the imprisoned general secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Ahmed Sa’adat, was launched in Havana, Cuba, on Oct. 15.

PFLP representative in Cuba, Basil Ismail, Palestinian Ambassador Dr. Akram Samhan, a representative of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela and Alfonso Fraga of the Cuban solidarity organization OSPAAAL attended the conference that launched the campaign. During the event, a documentary about Palestinian political prisoners was shown.

In addition, an International Conference on Political Prisoners took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, Oct. 22-25. PFLP officials, members of the Palestinian Cuban Friendship Association and other activists attended.

Participants in both conferences resolved to heighten the struggle to free anti-imperialist political prisoners and resist imperialism.

Sa’adat, head of the socialist PFLP guerrillas, has been imprisoned by Israel for many years. He was even put in isolation, which is banned by the Geneva Convention.  Israeli repression and its attack dog role for imperialism are doomed to fail with international solidarity with Palestine on the rise!
