Many in the Party for Socialism and Liberation, U.S., and its leadership, in concert with the Arab American leadership in the United States, have played a vital role in forging a mass movement against the war of aggression against the Iraqi people. We have also joined together to raise solidarity inside the United States with the struggle of the Palestinian people against colonialism and imperialism. Dr. Habash’s lifelong struggle premised on internationalist principles has and continues to be a guide not only for the Arab people but for progressive and revolutionary forces on all continents.
Dr. Habash’s unwavering dedication to the liberation of the Palestinian and Arab people spanned the six decades since al-Nakba. As a founder and leader of both the Arab Nationalist Movement and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Dr. Habash made invaluable contributions to the people’s struggle—enduring contributions that will live on far into the future. His uncompromising steadfastness and internationalist vision serve as an example for revolutionaries everywhere. Dr. Habash’s life, work, and devotion to the cause of national liberation and socialism must be made known to the new generation of activists.
The struggle for the liberation of humanity from imperialist domination has lost a truly great leader, but the struggle must and will continue until final victory.
