Sodexo harasses workers trying to unionize

Sodexo
is accused of spying on, intimidating
and harrassing workers who were organizing into a union. Sodexo
allegedly used the Tulane campus police to interrogate workers. One
worker has been fired for union activity.

Sodexo
has a history of the these actions, as at the Bethlehem, Pa.,
campus of Lafayette College earlier this year. Corporations routinely
try to prevent workers from organizing in order to protect their
profits.

Sodexo
often
gains a monopoly on campus food services. For example, a cafe run by
the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church to raise funds for repairs was
threatened with being shut down on Nicholls State University campus
in Thibodaux, La., due to Sodexo’s exclusive rights.
