held a press conference in front of the Los Angeles federal building in downtown Los Angeles on June 29.

The April 7 Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition called the event, which was attended by 13 English- and Spanish-language media outlets. All of the organizations present expressed disappointment at the failure of Congress to come up with a satisfactory bill granting legalization for the over 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Continuing the struggle and mobilizations for full legalization was a key point of the press conference.

Juan Jose Gutierrez, director of Latino Movement USA, and Carlos Alvarez, organizer with the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) demanded that the U.S. government declare and immediate and unconditional moratorium on the racist raids targeting the undocumented. Organizers at the conference also called a mass action on October 12 in downtown L.A. to demand full rights for all immigrants.

Other speakers included Raul Murillo, president of Hermandad Mexicana Nacional; Dr. John Fernandez, United Teachers Los Angeles; and Roberto Bravo, Federation of Mexican Clubs and Organizations.
