Rally honors Dr. King, protests prison conditions


On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, nearly 100 people joined in a candlelight vigil and rally in front of the Whalley Avenue Jail

in New Haven, Conn. In addition to honoring Dr. King, the action called attention to the continuing crisis in Connecticut’s prisons caused by a statewide ban on parole and inhumane conditions for inmates.


The action was organized by a number of organizations including People Against Injustice, Coalition Against the Parole Ban, New Haven Family Alliance and ANSWER-CT (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism).
